Office Practice is a co-op style class taught in the Library/media Centers during
the fall and spring semesters. Students in this class receive a credit for each semester of work.
In the Library/Media Centers there is a large variety of tasks to perform that
require accuracy. These tasks include: data entry, processing of books and materials, setting up and operating audio-visual
equipment, looking up, locating, and circulating materials, and re-shelving materials. Office Practice students need
to accept directions well, listen carefully, and process the information accurately. They need to be organized, competent
and efficient. The students need to work well independently or with others. Taking on new tasks with a positive
attitude and being willing to do extra is expected.
Interpersonal
skills are equally important. Students need to be friendly, considerate of others, and get along well with other people
in the Library/Media Centers. While earning credit the students gain experience and become a valuable asset to the Library/Media
Centers and the school.
