Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is celebrated every year on the third Monday in January. This National Holiday
is celebrated to honor the birth of a great civil rights leader. Mr. King had a dream that one day African Americans and all
people would have equal rights. At the age of thirty-five he was the youngest man to ever be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
It took fifteen years after his assassination for this day to be designated as a national holiday. Martin Luther King, Jr.
is remembered as a man who worked for civil rights for all peoples.
